Benefits and Allowances for Residents in the United Kingdom

3. Housing Benefit:
Housing Benefit helps people on low incomes with their rent. It’s gradually being replaced by Universal Credit for most people. Eligibility and the amount received depend on factors such as income, savings, and household size.

4. Child Benefit:
Child Benefit is a tax-free payment that parents or guardians can claim for their children. It’s usually paid every four weeks and is available for each child until they turn 16 (or 20 if they stay in approved education or training).

5. Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payment (PIP):
DLA is being replaced by PIP for people aged 16 to State Pension age. These are benefits to help with the extra costs of long-term ill-health or disability. PIP provides financial support to those with additional needs arising from a disability or long-term health condition.
